Blogging Blues – Having Trouble Building Your Own Engaged Audience?

I’ve read a couple of comments about me recently that have caught my eye. Each discusses how quickly I was able to grow my blog and my audience. Examples include:

“I have never seen anyone launch and grow a quality site so quickly.”
Grow Map

“[...] she is grabbing the attention of some of the top bloggers in the business.”
Bradley A Harmon

“PR6 in only 7 weeks is absolute madness!”
Props Blog Ideas

See the theme? It seems people aren’t so much impressed by my age or my experience, but rather how quickly my blog has achieved its current success and following. This got me thinking…

How Did FresheVenture.com Grow So Fast?

Hey, if everyone else is asking the question, I might as well too! How did I grow my blog so quickly? Was it being in the right place at the right time? Did I use some sneaky method no one else seems to know about, or did I secretly have the love child of a top Internet marketing guru?

As exciting as some of those reasons sound, none of them are correct (ESPECIALLY the love child!). I simply did what I’ve learned to do over my 5 years of online business experience – and it worked!

Ok, that’s a crappy answer, huh? You want more details, right? Well, I want to give them to you, but I’ll need your help…

You Give Me the Questions and I’ll Give You the Answers!

FresheVenture.com turned 6 months old two weeks ago and I’ve already experienced more than I thought possible. From interviewing Blogging Guru Yaro Starak, to hosting the Best WordPress Design Contest of 2009, my short time in the blogosphere has been exciting and busy!

In this time, a lot of my readers have asked me how I achieved this success and why they aren’t experiencing the same results. Some are downright confused while others are considering shutting down their blogs entirely!

I would love to help you begin building your own engaged blog audience that will share your posts, leave tons of comments on your blog, join your RSS or email lists and catch the eyes of fellow bloggers!

So, let me ask you a few quick questions.

After Months, or Even Years, of Blogging, Are You Still…

  • Struggling to catch the eye of other bloggers?
  • Begging for retweets with no luck?
  • Getting no love from Digg, StumbleUpon or Reddit?
  • Receiving little to no comments on your blog?
  • Falling behind with subscribers/followers?
  • Lacking any online connections?
  • Feeling a little lonely on your blog?

If any of these sound like you, then let’s talk! Would you be interested in learning how I grew my blog so quickly? If so, I need feedback from you as soon as possible.

Tell me what you’re having problems with. Let me know what blogging activities have you stumped. Go ahead – vent to me! Just click link…

Even if you don’t need this type of help, I would love to know what you’ve struggled with in the past. The more feedback I receive, the more I can help my readers!

  • Hi there Keller!

I just found your blog through that helpful You Tube video you did about installing WordPress on a site hosted by Network Solutions. Thanks very much for that. I'll post my follow-up question to that one on another comment. I really appreciate this post about Blogging Blues, as I haven't quite reached the stage that you are writing about here...I'm a brand-new blogger, and if you like, you can see how this nascent relationship to the Blogosphere came about by taking a peek at my brand-spanking-new WordPress blog here: http://fiddlerchick.wordpress.com/. I'll post my blog about blogging very soon - I don't quite feel complete with it enough to publish it just yet. Anyway, at this point, my blogging blues are from wading through all the techie stuff one has to wade through in order to transform a word doc and few digital photos to a published blog!

Thanks again for sharing your fountain of wisdom!

I have been trying for years without generating much interest in my sites. I finally found a topic that inspires me and I am still struggling to achieve any audience. I have found your posts very informative and as you see by this comment I am trying some of your techniques :)
  • I've beat my head against the proverbial wall several times too. Is your lack of audience due to the topic you chose or the traffic you're receiving? In other words, is there a market for your niche?
  • Wow, Keller, that's such a beautiful invitation, I feel under dressed. And I'll have to stay tuned to the soap opera saga of Keller and Brad :P

I don't know what to ask-I've been doing this kind of stuff for over 10 years, and with that much experience, I'm barely a novice. I'm open to everything :-O

    You are Joy!
  • Thank you!
  • There you go again Keller bending over backwards to help your readers! I must admit the love child theory sounded intriguing. There's a great headline in there somewhere just waiting to come out.

Please take Keller up on her offer of help. She has provided tips to me in responses to comments I left, and they have all helped.
  • We could create some kind of an Internet marketing soap opera off of that, couldn't we?

Thanks for the props Brad - it means a lot!
