The Money Cult Picked My Brain – Listen to My First Phone Interview!

Making Money Online, Podcasts

Jared from The Money Cult (one of my fantastic nominees for our Best WordPress Design Contest) requested an interview from me this week. I assumed it would be a written interview with the standard “how do you like blogging” questions. Boy was I in for a surprise…

My FIRST Phone Interview

Jared offered to do the interview by phone if I was up to it. I had never given a phone interview before and of course had to fight back the “Hope I sound like I know what I’m talking about” thoughts, but I was excited to take the opportunity.

I was even more excited about the questions Jared asked. I really had expected more basic, general questions, but he took a unique spin with me – leading us to discuss topics including:

  • What the turning point was in my online career.
  • How I feel about the learning process of running an online business.
  • How to spot crap information and resources.
  • If I only had 10 hours available to work each week, what I would choose to spend those hours on.
  • Why I don’t want to win the lottery.
  • How Yaro Starak’s Blog Mastermind Course helped me launch my blog.
  • How I’ve gained the attention of some Internet Gurus including Yaro Starak and John Chow and how you can do the same thing.
  • How the Best WordPress Design Contest has helped Jared’s blog.
  • What I’ve learned from my contest, including prelaunch and building a buzz.
  • If I were to create or purchase an Internet product priced at $1000, what I would expect from it.
  • The importance of keyword research and market research.

I LOVE this interview – the back and forth Jared and I shared and being able to talk about my passion for Internet marketing was awesome.

If you want to pick my brain, head on over to The Money Cult and listen to this hour long podcast. And please give it a tweet, digg and stumble if you find it valuable!

  • I'm not finished read this yet, but it's so fabulous 'n I'll back again when I was finished my job :D
  • Keller are we twins?! I worked in retail management too, have a history of being a workaholic and would rather earn the money than win Tattslotto although I wouldn't say no to it, lol! I can relate to you on so many levels.

The content you continue to pour out, well it's mind boggling, I have to admit I can't keep up with it all but it's not for want of trying! The interview was great, I loved hearing you speak right from the heart and the way the discussion took its own course at times was natural and just oozed integrity. You really are an inspiration and I'm enjoying watching you take this blog to great heights at great speed!

BTW, I've included your blog in the Kreativ Blogger Award list I just published, you can see the details on my blog when you have a spare minute.

Thanks for all the great content Keller, keep it up! :)
  • I went and read your Kreativ Awards post - thank you, thank you, thank you! What a fantastic networking tool! I will definitely post my favorite 7 soon.
  • Fantastic interview! It's amazing to me that someone who advocates "shameless self-promotion" reaches out through her writing and podcasts in such a very authentic and unassuming manner. I appreciate your willingness to share both your successes and failures with those of us new to blogging. I continue to learn and be encouraged by your posts and podcasts each time I visit.
  • Thanks so much Brad! BTW: I really like your writing style and content. I will be checking in on your blog from now on.
  • Wow, thank you Keller. That means a lot coming from someone like yourself. :)
  • Hi Keller & Jared,

Just been cooking Sunday Lunch listening to your great interview - very interesting and informative .... but, above all, just nice to listen to a couple of friendly, open, "connected" people out there in internetland.

Anyway, you're both very welcome in my kitchen any time -
and maybe, who knows, one day, a few of us will get together.
    I hope so.

The food by the way tastes fantastic!

    Cheers

    Will
  • Thanks Will! I do hope we can all meet up one day and discuss blogging. It's amazing isn't it - to be in contact with people daily who live on the other side of the planet? Wonders of the Internet.
  • I enjoyed the interview, sounds like you both had a great time doing it.
  • Wow. First interview? You sound like a natural :)

It was great to listen to. You did a great job there. I'm also in Blog Mastermind and Become a Blogger. Actually, I even went on to Membership Mastermind, lol.

You need to do more of those interviews. It's good stuff :)
  • Thanks Leslie! I'm so glad you came by my blog (the great power of leaving comments, huh?). I also joined Membership Mastermind. Now I'm just struggling to get through all three programs while maintaining my blog. So much to learn and not nearly enough time.

This is a very motivational podcast and it is a very good interview. Greg Ellison
  • Just got done listening to the interview Keller. I think eveyone likes to hear success stories on how their online business was first started. You have had some good success in such a short amount of time. I think it is because of the good planning and implementation on your part, not just the help from people like Yaro and Gideon.

I think my main focus for bringing in traffic has been through SEO as you mention in the interview. Keep giving out the great articles. :-)
