The WordPress Chick Grills Me About Blogging

On Wednesday, The WordPress Chick picked my brain with a fantastic hour long interview! I met Kim through my Best WordPress Design Contest as she became one of our fabulous nominees. When she requested an interview, I jumped on board as she and I share a deep passion for WordPress and blogging!

This was a really fun interview as there was no outline on my end. In fact, most of the questions she asked were ones I was not expecting. So, it was definitely an “off-the-cuff” and in-the-moment conversation. We discussed several important topics including:

  • How I Started off Using eBay
  • Starting an Internet Business with No Money
  • Starting an Internet Business with No Experience
  • How My Blog Has Evolved in 6 Months
  • What My Blog’s Timeline for Success Was
  • What My Intent with Launching My Blog Was
  • The Importance of an Engaged Audience and Targeted Traffic
  • The Specific Successes I’ve Had with My Blog
  • How I Got the Attention of Some Big Names
  • The Power of Online Relationships
  • What to Spend Your Time on When Launching a Blog
  • The Importance of My 5-Posts a Week Rule for a New Blog
  • The Power of Social Networks
  • Building an Email List
  • What I Do to Get Traffic to My Blog
  • How I Come up With Blog Post Topics
  • The Importance of Having a Passion for Your Business
  • Whether or Not You Should Give Away Free Information
  • A Realistic Timeline for Blogging Success
  • Where I Am Today vs. One Year Ago
  • Having Several Sources of Income

Whew! That’s a LOT of information. I want to invite all of you to check out this podcast, meet Kim and share the post with others if you find the interview helpful. Thanks Kim!

“…as *her and I* share a deep passion for WordPress and blogging!”

    Holy bad grammar, Batman!! Yikes.

(Correct: as she and I share a deep passion….)

I always love listening to your interviews. Each time I hear your story I learn something new that makes me stop and think.

I'm very interested to see what this new social networking site is going to be. I am looking forward to the official announcement.

I would love to hear you talk about setting up your stores. Perhaps some video posts as you set up your new store next year? I think it would be a killer series.

Great interview. Thanks for sharing just a little but more with us.

Great Interview, really agree and like the part about not doing it alone. So much power in connecting and helping each other.

Thank you so much Brad! I'm excited to announce the social network, but I still have a lot of work to put in first. Getting there…

As for my next ecommerce store, I definitely plan to record and write about the process. I should start on that store in January!

    Thank you Kim and Keller,

As I listen to your interview it reinforced the fact that I need to write more on my blogs. I guess I have spread myself too thin in the early stages with multiple blogs while trying to complete my book. But this is a great motivator for me to get off my butt and work more.

    Thank you,

    Tyrone

    Hi Keller,

I'm really looking forward to reading the interview! I ask your forgiveness if I am posting this comment in the wrong place, as I am a total newbie to this stuff, but since the title concerns WordPress, and I found your blog from the video you made about installing a WordPress blog on a website hosted by Network Solutions, I have a question:

Do you have a video or some sort of written guide about how to import an existing WordPress blog into a Network Solutions-hosted website? when I followed the steps in the video, it looked like what I ended up with was an entirely new blog that was somehow connected to my website without appearing on the actual website. (Now that I think of it, I could have posted this comment to the “Blogging Blues” article, as the technology part of blogging just totally 'blues' me out…maybe I'll write a song about this!) I have a website for my band that is hosted by Network Solutions, and I just started a blog on WordPress, so I am hoping there is a reasonably straightforward way to get my WP blog to automatically appear on my “main” website when I publish it to WP, or is that asking for the moon?

    Many thanks again,

    Brenda K
